It can easily be said that being a
mother is the toughest job in the world. You're a short-order cook, a
babysitter, a diaper service, a confidant, a friend, a math tutor, a
seamstress...the list goes on. As good at this as you are, even the
best of 'mommies' need some inspiration from time to time. To that
end, here are a few of my favorite quotes.
There are not enough angels to take
care of everyone in the world, so God created mothers. -Jewish
proverb
Mother love is the fuel that enables a
normal human being to do the impossible.-Marion C. Garretty, Author
All I am or can be I owe to my angel
Mother.-Abraham Lincoln
Mother is the name for God in the lips
and hearts of little children.-William Makepeace Thacheray, Author
It is not until you become a mother
that your judgement slowly turns to compassion and
understanding.-Erma Bombeck
I am sure that if the mothers of
various nations could meet, there would be no more wars.-E.M.
Forster, Novelist
(my note: I can definitely get behind
this! Mothers are masters at working things out without using force.
They will also do whatever they have to to keep their kids from
having to suffer, up to and including taking burdens onto
themselves.)
My mother was the most beautiful woman
I ever saw. All I am I owe to my mother. I attribute all my success
in life to the moral, intellectual and physical education I received
from her. -George Washington, US President
My mother is the most self-sacrificing
person I've ever known. I can't recall a single selfish act on her
part in all of my twenty-one years with her. - Mine, and very true.
Any woman who understands the problems
of running a home will be nearer to understanding the problems of
running a country.-Margaret Thatcher
A woman is like a tea bag-you never
know how strong she is until she gets in hot water.-Eleanor Roosevelt
Yes, Mother. I can see you are flawed.
You have not hidden it. That is your greatest gift to me.-Alice
Walker, Author
Who in their infinite wisdom decreed
that Little League uniforms be white? Certainly not a mother.-Erma
Bombeck
(my note: It was probably a man who
thought it was okay because he'd never have to do the laundry anyway.
:)
The fastest way to break the cycle of
perfectionism and become a fearless mother is to give up the idea of
doing it perfectly-indeed to embrace uncertainty and imperfection.-
Arianna Huffington
It's the moms of this nation-single,
married, widowed-who really hold this country together. We're the
mothers, we're the wives, we're the grandmothers, we're the big
sisters, we're the little sisters, we're the daughters. You know its
true, don't you? You're the ones who always have to do a little
more.-Ann Romney
I hope you've found something that
helps you, or at least give you a good laugh.-Me, as I end this post.
